High School Sports Lady Deacons lose late to Felician

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -  A late layup proved to be the difference in Bloomfield's matchup against CACC North Division rival Felician College Tuesday night, as the Lady Deacons dropped a 48-46 home decision to fall to 9-13 overall and 7-8 in conference play.

High School Sports Deacons cruise to victory over Felician

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Senior forward Matt Wafula (Harlem, N.Y.) led all scorers with 25 points to continue his banner senior campaign Tuesday evening, as Bloomfield's men's basketball team improved to 19-6 overall and 13-2 in conference play with a 83-55 home victory over CACC North Division rival Felician College.

High School Sports BHS girls' bowling team wins SEC-American Division title for third year in a row

The Bloomfield High School girls’ bowling team clinched first place in the girls’ Super Essex Conference-American Division  for the third consecutive season.
The SEC-American is the highest division of the conference.
The BHS boys’ team finished second to Nutley in the boys’ SEC-American.

This time, it was a little bit easier for the Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team.

Jameel Patterson scored 25 points to go along with 10 steals and five assists and fellow junior guard Jaleel Jimenez had 16 points and three steals as the third-seeded Bengals began its Essex County Tournament run with a 73-61 home win over No. 14 seed Orange in the round of 16 last Saturday Feb. 4.

High School Sports BHS girls' basketball team has good ECT run

The Bloomfield High School girls’ varsity basketball team enjoyed a valiant run in the Essex County Tournament.

Maya Harris scored eight points for the 19th-seeded Lady Bengals in a 56-23 loss to third-seeded Mount St. Dominic in the round of 16 last Saturday Feb. 4 in Caldwell.

The loss snapped the Bengals’ four-game winning streak. BHS moved to a record of 9-9.

Senior guard Megan Hanna hit a running layup with 40 seconds remaining to lift the 19th-seeded Bloomfield High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 36-35 upset over 14th-seeded Nutley in the second round preliminary of the Essex County Tournament this past Monday Jan. 30 at Nutley High.

Hanna hit a three-pointer with 1:30 remaining to tie the game at 34-34. Hanna’s layup put the Lady Bengals up 36-34.
