The Bloomfield High School wrestling team finished third overall at the District 14 tournament at Livingston High School last Saturday Feb. 18.
Nathaniel Garcia won the 145-pound title and Kyle Christiansen won the 170-pound title to lead the Bengals. In the finals, Garcia decisioned Belleville's Anthony Avino, 4-1, while Christiansen pinned Dominic Leone of Montclair Kimberley Academy in 4:08.
Ian Chauncey took second in the 152-pound division for the Bengals, losing to Brad Krosser of Livingston, 6-2, in the final.
Finishing third for BHS were Chris Collado at 160; Isaiah Thomas, 195; Terrence Antoine, 220; and Adam Wooten, 285 heavyweight.
With those top-three finishes in their weight classes, the seven BHS wrestlers advanced to the Region 4 tournament at West Orange High School on Feb. 22, 24-25.
Nutley won the team district title for the first time since 1980.
