Lady Deacons lose late to Felician

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -  A late layup proved to be the difference in Bloomfield's matchup against CACC North Division rival Felician College Tuesday night, as the Lady Deacons dropped a 48-46 home decision to fall to 9-13 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
 
After falling to Felician in the team's first meeting of the season on January 24, the Lady Deacons were hoping for payback against the top team in the North Division along with a cushion to protect their playoff position.
 
Early on, Bloomfield was able to establish pressure and convert on the offensive end to take a nine-point advantage midway through the first half of play.  However, the Lady Falcons continued to battle and turned the tide, eventually tying the score at 26 going into halftime.
 
In the second half, the Lady Deacons came out with momentum, stretching the lead to 10 with about twelve minutes left in the contest.  Felician would once again fight back, and with senior guard Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, MD) in foul trouble, the Lady Falcons were able to remain within striking distance. 
 
Felician was able to knot the score at 46 in the game's final minute, gaining possession with just over 50 seconds to play.  The Falcons were able to convert on their final trip on the offensive end, netting a layup to take a slim two-point advantage.  Bloomfield would get one final chance to send the contest to overtime, but their last shot as time expired drew iron, handing the home team a tough home loss and giving Felician a season sweep of their counterparts.

Lamison led Bloomfield with 20 points, five rebounds and four steals in the loss.  Junior Dre'Shonda Williams (Piscataway, NJ) had eight points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals.  Junior Shaniqua Bacote (Patterson, NJ) contributed seven points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks. 

Bloomfield's next game will be on Saturday, February 11 when they host CACC South rival Georgian Court.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
